Count Michael de la Bedoyere was born in St. Servan, France, on May 16, 1900, the only child of Count Yvon de la Bedoyere and Sybil Emily, daughter of Anthony W. Thorold, sometime Bishop of Winchester. He was educated at Stonyhurst College and Oxford University, from which he received his M.A. in 1928. After serving as assistant master at Beaumont College, he joined the faculty of the University of Minnesota in 1930 as lecturer in philosophy. In 1932 De la Bedoyere became assistant editor of "Th...
